Ashland, Ohio -- The VMI wrestling team lost three matches on Sunday at the 15th Wendy's Big Classic Duals, hosted by Ashland University. The Keydets lost their first match to 17th-ranked Central Michigan, 46-0, then were defeated by Indiana, 31-6. In their final dual of the day, the Keydets jumped out to an 11-point lead (15-4) against host Ashland, but lost a tough
19-18 match.

Against Ashland, the Keydets (0-4) mounted their lead behind wins from sophomore 133-pounder Micah Amrozowicz (Virginia Beach, Va./ Kellam), freshman 141-pounder David Metzler (Dayton, Va./ Turner Ashby), sophomore 157-pounder Chris Hardy (Chesapeake, Va./ Western Branch) and a pin from
freshman 149-pounder Sam Alvarenga (Springfield, Va./ Edison). Amrozowicz was the only Keydet to win two matches on the day.

After two Ashland wins, redshirt freshman Corry Murray (Tully, N.Y./ Tully) recorded a 9-3 win at 184 lbs. to give VMI an 18-13 lead. However, Ashland won the final two individual matches to to take the one-point team win. VMI sophomore heavyweight Scott Buhman (Portage, Ind./ Portage) lost a tough 3-2 match in the individual tilt.

The Keydets will aim to get back on the winning track on Friday night, when they travel to Fairfax, Va. to face George Mason. The match is set to begin at 7:30.
