Citadel Tennis Releases 2003-2004 Schedule

Charleston, SC - Citadel Director of Athletics Les Robinson and tennis coach Toby Simpson released the schedule for the upcoming 2003-2004 season on Wednesday, September 10.

The schedule includes ten conference matches, along with competitions against some of the top teams in the nation, including Florida and Tennessee. The Bulldogs will also play in-state opponents Clemson and South Carolina State, and for the first time in school history the team will take on Simpson's alma mater Southern Mississippi.

After four fall tournaments, The Citadel opens the season with a home match-up against Clemson on January 17 at 9 am. The team will then travel to Gainsville, FL to take on the Gators on January 23. They will wrap-up the season with a road conference match-up against Furman.

"It's a tough schedule that will give the guys a lot of experience," Simpson said, referring to three national powerhouses, two of which they're playing at home. "It will get them ready for conference matches, tournaments and the conference championship at the end of the season."

Simpson said he is always optimistic about the upcoming season and is confident in this year's squad. "With the recruits and the returning players we have, we should do well this season and maybe have a couple of upsets."

All Citadel home matches will be played at the Earle Tennis Center on the campus of the Military College of South Carolina.
