SoCon Women's Soccer Results (Sept. 16)

Wofford 1, College of Charleston 0

Freshman goalkeeper Austin Somers recorded nine saves in turning back the College of Charleston Cougars Tuesday night as the Wofford women's soccer team garnered its fourth straight shutout and third win in its last four games with a 1-0 overtime victory at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

Somers has proved to be unstoppable in goal as of late, not allowing a goal since the season opener and extending her scoreless streak in the cage to 362:37. She defended 14 shots tonight against the Cougars, who were picked to finish second in the preseason Southern Conference poll.

The Lady Terriers received the game winner at the 94:28 mark, as junior Eve Van Harpen scored her second goal of the season off an assist from freshman Kelsey Roth. Roth's assist marked her first collegiate point as the shot just sailed over the head of the Cougar keeper.

With the victory, Wofford improves to 3-1-1, 1-0 in the SoCon on the season, while the College of Charleston falls to 2-3, 0-1 in league play. The Lady Terriers will next be in action Thursday night at Mercer in Macon, Ga.
