Jacksonville recorded 14 shots on goal to Charlestons 10, but the Dolphins (1-3-1) were unable to send one past the Cougar goalkeeper as the College of Charleston (2-2-0) defeated the Jacksonville Dolphins, 3-0, Sunday in the Gamecock Soccer Classic.The Cougar goalkeeper Keith Wiggans made seven saves while the Dolphins Greg Williams made five saves on eight shots. Jacksonville was unable to capitalize on Charlestons 16 fouls.Charleston took an early lead at 18:42 when Ricardo Diaz Granados headed in a ball for the first goal of the match which was sent across by Sage Martina. Charleston extended their lead to 2-0 when Ben Hollingsworth took the ball at the top center of the box, dribbled in about 10 yards, and shot it past the Dolphin goalkeeper on the right side for the goal at 43:33.Both Charleston and Jacksonville were even in shots on goal (five) in the first half, corner kicks (two) and saves. Charleston recorded one more foul (eight) than Jacksonville. The Cougars continued to roll in the second half as Martina slipped the ball past the Dolphin goalie to take Charleston to a 3-0 lead. Jeremy Gold fed the ball to Martina at 59:11.Jacksonville fell to No. 8 South Carolina Friday night 4-0 while Charleston fell to Alabama A&M 2-1.Michigan 4, UNC Greensboro 3 (OT)CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Michigan junior forward Mychal Turpin scored fourgoals, including the game-winner at the 98:14 mark in overtime to leadthe Wolverines (4-2-0) to a 4-3 win over UNC Greensboro (3-2-0) at theCarolina Nike Classic at Fetzer Field.Turpin gave Michigan the win on a breakaway that beat the UNCGgoalkeeper to the left side. Turpin gave Michigan a 3-2 lead at the 78:55 mark when he rebounded hisown shot and scored from inside the box. The lead was short lived, asthe Spartans? James Carslon tied the game a three at the 81:08 mark witha header rebounded off his own shot.In goal, UNCG?s Joe Crump made four saves and allowed three goals, whileMichigan?s Peter Dzubay made five saves and gave up three scores.Radford 2, Appalachian State 1BLACKSBURG, Va. - In the second day of the Virginia Tech Classic, Radford University downed Appalachian State University 2-1. Appalachian State struck first on a Frederick Henriksen goal in the 16th minute. Still in the first period of play Radford countered with a David Harpula goal off of Erik Sokolik assist in the 27th minute. The two teams remained knotted at 1-1 until Patrick Colas scored off Sean Johnson's pass into the box with less than two minutes remaining in regulation.The game was evenly matched throughout with Radford holding a slim advantage in shots, outshooting the Mountaineers 19-16. Both goalies recorded six saves in the contest. Individually, Erik Sokolik led Radford with six shots and an assist. Meanwhile for Appalachian State Frederick Henriksen stood out with his three shots on goal as well as a goal. With the loss Appalachian State's record drops to 1-3-1, while Radford's record improves to 2-3-0. The final game of the Virginia Tech Classic will take place this afternoon when Virginia Tech takes on Georgia State at 2:30 p.m. All matches are contested at the Virginia Tech Soccer Stadium.
