Women's Outdoor Track and Field Southern Conference

Davidson Coach To Be Inducted Into Wake Forest Hall of Fame

DAVIDSON, N.C- Davidson's head women's cross country and track & field coach, Jennifer Straub, will be inducted into the Wake Forest Athletic Hall of Fame on Sept. 12. There, she will join notable past inductees Arnold Palmer, Curtis Strange, Brian Piccolo, Billy Packer and Tyrone "Muggsy" Bogues. She is the first track or cross country performer to gain induction, and the just the sixth female. She earned All-America cross country honors in 1987 and still holds the Wake Forest indoor record in the 3,000 and outdoor records in the 3,000 and 10,000.

"I feel honored and privileged to be inducted into the Wake Forest Hall of Fame. The athletic department has produced many outstanding athletes as of late and I am humbled to be recognized as such," said an excited Straub.

Last season, Straub led the cross country team to its best conference finish ever, third at the Southern Conference Championships. Because of that performance, she earned the conference Coach of the Year award. Straub is married to Davidson golf coach and fellow Demon Deacon graduate, Tim Straub. Straub found the honor surprising. "It kind of caught me off-guard," she said, "I feel I'm in rarefied air."
