Women's Basketball 8/14/2003 11:15:00 AM Southern Conference Wofford Announces 2003-04 Schedule The Wofford College women's basketball program has announced itsschedule for the upcoming season. The Lady Terriers, under the guidanceof first-year head coach Samantha Young, will be looking to improve onlast season's 4-24 record. "At first glance, this schedule looks very tough for a youngteam like ours," said Young. "It's certainly going to test us early. Ithink it will allow for our players and program to progress throughoutthe year and should prepare us well for conference season. There are noeasy games on the schedule, but the players are excited about theopportunity that awaits them." The Lady Terriers will open the season Nov. 21 at Big 12 foeNebraska before opening up their home slate against Georgia State twodays later. Another home game follows on Nov. 25 as New Orleans entersBenjamin Johnson Arena. An away game at Coastal Carolina Nov. 28 begins a six-game roadtrip for Wofford. The Lady Terriers will battle three North Carolinaschools next, traveling to UNC Greensboro to open the conference seasonDec. 3 before continuing within the league at Davidson Dec. 6. On Dec. 13, Wofford will face North Carolina in Chapel Hill.Two contests in Tennessee wrap up the away swing, Dec. 17 at Belmont andDec. 20 at SoCon foe East Tennesee State. Wofford will return home fora home game against Chattanooga right before Christmas on Dec. 22. Western Carolina and Elon will entertain the Lady Terriers inback-to-back road games Dec. 30 and Jan. 3, 2004, respectively. Woffordwill continue its stint in the conference with a home game againstFurman Jan. 5 before hosting UNC Asheville Jan. 10. Wofford will travel to Boone, N.C., for a matchup againstAppalachian State Jan. 12 then begin a three-game conference homestandagainst Georgia Southern (Jan. 17), College of Charleston (Jan. 19) andEast Tennessee State (Jan. 24). The Lady Terriers will trade away and home contests over thenext five games as they travel to Chattanooga (Jan. 26), host Elon (Jan.31), play at Furman (Feb. 3), host Appalachian State (Feb. 9) and travelto Georgia Southern (Feb. 14) on Valentine's Day. The final road game on the slate is schedule at the College ofCharleston Feb. 17. Wofford will conclude the regular season with threehome games beginning with a Feb. 21 match-up against Davidson. WesternCarolina (Feb. 23) and UNC Greensboro (Feb. 27) wrap up the regularseason for the Lady Terriers. This year's Southern Conference Tournament will be held March3-6 in Charleston, S.C. The first two rounds will be played atMcAlister Field House at The Citadel with the semifinals andchampionship slated to take place at the North Charleston Coliseum.
