Furman's Paco Gonzalez To Transfer

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman Paladins men's basketball coach Larry Davis
announced today that sophomore foward Paco Gonzalez has decided to
transfer following the completion of the 2002-03 academic year.

"Paco is a fine young man, and we wish him nothing but the best," said
Davis in making the announcement on Thursday.

Gonzalez, a 6-foot-6, 240-pound product of Miiami, Fla., averaged 4.2
points and 3.4 rebounds per game in 25 games a year ago, which included
eight starts. As a freshman in 2001-02, he started in 28 of 31 games and
averaged 5.5 ppg and 4.4 rpg.

"I had two great years here and made a lot of friends," said Gonzalez
Thursday afternoon. "I will miss everyone, including my teammates and
coaches, and certainly wish them well."

Gonzalez indicated that he intends to continue his basketball career but
was unsure at this time where he planned to enroll. Has has two seasons
of eligibility remaining.
