CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The second contest of a scheduled three-game series
between Clemson (11-3) and Georgia Southern
(14-5) at Joe Riley Park Monday afternoon has been suspended in the bottom
of the first inning because of rain in the Charleston
area.

The two teams, who originally were slated to play the series in Statesboro
last Friday, Saturday and Sunday but were moved to
Charleston because of unplayable field conditions at J.I. Clements Stadium,
will pick up the game Tuesday beginning at 12 noon at
Riley Park with the Tigers holding a 2-0 lead after a half an inning of
play. Clemson used a bloop-single and an infield ground out to
build a two-run, first-inning lead against Eagle starter Dennis Dove in the
top of the first inning

The third game of the series has been officially cancelled because of
Clemson's prior scheduling commitment, which includes a
contest at the College of Charleston Tuesday evening.

Tuesday's action can be heard live on WWNS 1240 AM in Statetsboro and via
Georgia Southern's official athletic website through
a partnership with EagleNet Internet Services.
