Wofford (Feb. 27 game)
Tomorrow's Wofford home baseball game with Oakland has been postponed
due to the forecast of rain, altering the schedule for the teams'
four-game series at Duncan Park.
The Terriers and Golden Grizzlies will make-up tomorrow's postponement
with a 12 noon doubleheader on Saturday. Wofford and Oakland were
originally slated to play a 1 p.m. single game that day.
The teams will still play their scheduled Friday and Sunday single games
at 3 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
Davidson
DAVIDSON, N.C. - For the sixth time already this season, the Davidson College baseball team has lost a game to weather. The contest scheduled for this afternoon against Oakland (Mich.) University was canceled due to a steady rain.
Of those six games, only one will be rescheduled. The Feb. 19 game against nationally-ranked Wake Forest that was postponed due to the winter storm has been rescheduled for April 2 at Davidson's Wildcat Park at 3 p.m. Game time is tentative.
The Wildcats open up their conference season this weekend when they travel to Statesboro, Ga., to take on the Southern Conference preseason favorite, Georgia Southern (7-3). The two schools have a doubleheader slated for Saturday beginning at 1:30 p.m., and the series finale on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
Davidson owns a perfect 3-0 record on the season, but has just the three games under its belt instead of the scheduled nine before league play begins. Senior Derrik Wolpert (1-0), sophomore Andy Carter (1-0) and junior Brian Akin (0-0) are scheduled to pitch for Davidson against Brian Rogers (1-1), Brian Harrison (1-2) and Dennis Dove (2-0).
Western Carolina
For the second time in two weeks, Western Carolina's baseball game at Tennessee Tech has been postponed due to inclement weather. The two teams have rescheduled the contest for May 13 in Cookeville, Tenn., with first pitch set for 3:00 pm (CT).
The Catamounts are scheduled to resume play this weekend with a three-game set with Liberty at Childress Field/Hennon Stadium. The Cats and Flames are scheduled to play at doubleheader at Noon on Saturday (Mar. 1) and play a single game on Sunday at 2 pm.
Furman
Charlotte, N.C.-- The Furman-Charlotte baseball game scheduled for today,
Wednesday, February 26, has been postponed due to the cold weather as well
as the threat of rain. The game has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April
16 at 6:30 p.m.
Furman returns to action this weekend when they host Ohio at Furman
Baseball Stadium. The first game of the three-game series is slated to
begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
