Women's Indoor Track and Field 2/10/2003 8:33:00 AM Southern Conference Indoor Track Results, Feb. 8, 2003 Davidson MenCHAPEL HILL, N.C. - For the second consecutive weekend, the Davidson men's indoor track squad competed at the University of North Carolina, this time in the Carolina Heels Challenge. There was no team scoring in the event held in the Eddie Smith Fieldhouse. The Wildcats' top finishers came in the 5,000m run. Junior Chris Schmader crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 15:31.22. Senior Brad Becken followed in fourth in 15:46.78.In two other events, Davidson had tracksters place sixth. Junior Greg Scott placed sixth in the mile run (4:24.95) while fellow junior Ben Gaspar picked up a sixth-place showing in the 3,000m run (8:53.23).Complete results of all the events can be found at www.tarheelblue.com.Davidson concludes its indoor season at the SoCon Indoor Championships in Johnson City, Tenn., on Feb. 21 and 22.Davidson WomenCHapel Hill, N.C. - the Davidson College women's track team competed in the last dual meet of the indoor season on Saturday afternoon at Dick Taylor Track on the campus of North Carolina. The women's distance medley relay team grabbed the only victory of the day, winning the event in a time of 13:08.45.The 4x400 relay team also nabbed a top-five victory, taking home a fifth-place finish in a time of 4:35.84. Other strong performances on the afternoon came from sophomore Kim Pierre who placed 16th in the shot put with a throw of 33'04.75", just .5 inches shy off her own school record. In the 800 meter run, freshman Hilary Leister placed 17th with her season best, 2:27.56, while senior Jana Yee placed 19th. Senior Liz Gross (one mile) and freshman Carolyn Mohr (3,000 meters) both ran their best times of the season in their respective events.The Wildcats will have next weekend off to prepare for the Southern Conference indoor championships in Johnson City, Tenn. The championships will begin on Friday, Feb. 21 and conclude on Saturday, Feb. 22.
