Davidson Men's Soccer Standouts Earn Academic All-District

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Davidson men's soccer players Justin Porter and David Peoples were named to the 2003 Academic All-District Team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Porter, a senior defender from Norman, Okla., earned first team honors for the second straight season. The four-year starter for Davidson has played a key role in the seven shutout victories this season. In Porter's four seasons, Davidson has posted a total of 23 shutouts. The class of 2003 is also the first class to post four straight winning seasons in 20 years. The Wildcats have currently allowed only 16 goals for a 0.86 mark. Porter has been on the Southern Conference Honor Roll for his entire career.

A native of Englewood, Colo., Peoples also served the Wildcat defense for three of his four seasons.
A two-year co-captain and four-year starter, Peoples has been a leader on and off the field during his career. After recovering from off-season ACL surgery prior to his senior season, Peoples has come back to contribute more in the midfield instead of his typical defensive role. He has scored two goals, including the game-winner over Furman. Peoples also assisted on three other scores, including the overtime winner at South Carolina. Last year, he was the only Wildcat to be named to the NSCAA/adidas All-South Region team. He also earned Academic All-District honors and was a member of the All-Southern Conference team as a junior.

Davidson (11-5-2, 5-1-0) has one more regular season game left at Georgia Southern on Saturday, Nov. 6. The Wildcats have already secured the number one seed in the conference tournament as well as a share of the regular season crown. With a victory in Statesboro, Ga., Davidson will win the regular season title outright.
