Furmananswered with three straight points to take the first game 32-30.In game two, Wofford jumped out to a 27-23 lead only to see Furman rallyfor a 31-29 victory. The Paladins put the match away in less dramaticfashion in game three, scoring a 30-23 victory to improve to 11-10 overalland 6-1 in Southern Conference play. The loss drops Wofford to 5-12overall and 1-5 in the league.Fredrickson paced the Lady Paladin attack with 11 kills, while freshmenPurser and Hock chipped in 10 each. Freshman Kim Tonkin, subbing at setterwith Michelle Cauldwell injured and Molly Rybak out with mono, contributed42 assists and five kills in six attack attempts for Furman. Caitlin Whiteled the Lady Paladins in digs with 11.Andrea Duke led the Terrier attack with a match-high 14 kills and fivedigs. Setter Rhea deJesus added 41 assists.Furman returns to action Friday when it travels to Davidson for a 7:00p.m.match with the Wildcats.Chattanooga 3, Middle Tennessee State 1CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Three Chattanooga players reached double-digit killsand UTC played a solid overall game for one of its most emotional wins ofthe season, a four-game victory over rival Middle Tennessee Wednesday nightat Maclellan Gym 30-27, 24-30, 30-28, 30-20.Jody Steinberger led the assault with 17 kills, while Kari Krouse added 14and Liz Inskeep had a career-best 10 on a sizzling .333 hitting average.Chattanooga (8-9 overall) hung on for a two-point win in the first game andspread the offense around. The Lady Mocs were aided by seven MTSU servingerrors. The Blue Raiders (7-13) bounced back for a game-two win behind KeKeDeckard and Karisse Baker at the net with four kills each.The Lady Mocs grabbed the momentum with a harrowing win in game three asInskeep pounded down five kills and Steinberger recorded four. UTC hadthree aces in the game. UTC pulled away from the midway point of game fourand continued to stretch its lead throughout. Steinberger and Krouse bothhad five kills.Krouse tied a team season high with 27 digs and Emily McGinnis tied a teamseason high with 48 set assists. Kelley Smith was in on four blocks andKrouse finished with three aces. Steinberger's 57 attacks were a seasonhigh for UTC.Deckard's 24 kills paced the Blue Raiders, while Baker finished with 10.Deckard led the defense with 19 digs, while Megan Sumrell had 16, VictoriaMonasterolo 15 and Goldie Bilyeu 12 digs to go with 31 assists. LaToyaBrown, Deckard and Baker each had five blocks.Chattanooga jumps back into Southern Conference action with back-to-backroad games Friday and Saturday at Elon and UNC Greensboro, respectively.
