UTC WRESTLING TEAM TAKES ON SIX NCAA TOP 20 PLACERS FROM 2003

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---An early trip to 2003 National Champion Oklahoma State and visits from Iowa State, Missouri and Ohio State highlight the 2003-04 Chattanooga wrestling schedule.

The Mocs, under second-year head coach Terry Brands, open the season Nov. 15 at Oklahoma State. The Cowboys claimed their 31st overall NCAA wrestling title last season.

UTC travels to Northern Iowa Dec. 11 and Illinois Dec. 13. Northern Iowa placed 11th at the NCAA Championships, and Illinois was ninth.

Iowa State, which placed 19th at the NCAAs last year, will compete with Virginia Tech and Carson-Newman at Maclellan Gym Nov. 29. Ohio State, 15th
in 2003, and Missouri, 16th, invade the UTC campus Jan. 10.

"We want to wrestle the best competition in the country," Brands said. "We have been working on putting together an attractive home schedule. We feel like we have done this, and we hope this will continue to help us build our fan base."

The Mocs also have home dates with Southern Conference foes Appalachian State, Jan. 17, and UNC Greensboro, Feb. 7. The Mocs will wrestle Davidson and Duke in Durham, N.C., Jan. 31 and face VMI and The Citadel on the road
