SoCon Announces Cross Country Runners of the Week

SPARTANBURG, SC -- The Southern Conference announced today that Western Carolina's Ben Watkins and UNC Greensboro's Eleanor Wilson have been named the Cross Country Runners of the Week for October 22.

A senior from Snellville, GA, Watkins finished 8th (6th collegian) at the Clemson Invitational on Saturday. He ran 25:09 for the 8K course which was a minute and 16 second improvement over his previous best this fall. This time ranks him third on the SoCon 8K performance list.

Wilson ran a 17:51 at the NC State Collegiates on Saturday, finishing 12th and leading the Spartans to a fifth-place finish. She set the school record by a full 25 seconds and bettered her personal best by a minute. A sophomore from Hickory, NC, Wilson now leads the conference rankings.
