GREENVILLE -- The Furman women's soccer team fell 2-0 to 25th ranked
Auburn Thursday night at Eugene Stone III Soccer Stadium in front of 1,453
spectators.

The two teams played to a scoreless first half before Auburn's
Christina Culver put the Tigers up 1-0 at the 52:12 mark in the second
half. Culver headed in a Jenny Zarzour corner kick for the goal.

The Tigers kept the pressure on and extended the lead to 2-0 as
Jessie Allan knocked in a deflected Jaqueline Schwartz shot from inside
the goal box.

Auburn outshot the Lady Paladins 18-4 on the match, including 14-2 in
the second half Auburn attempted seven corner kicks to Furman's one.

"We could not have played any worse tonight," said Furman head coach
Brian Lee. "We were not prepared to play and we showed no emotion. Auburn
is a very good team and you have to play a lot better than we did tonight
against a team like Auburn. We have a lot of work to do before Georgetown
comes to town next week."

Furman falls to 1-1 on the season, while the 25th ranked Tigers
improve to 3-0. Furman returns to action Friday, September 13 against
Georgetown in the Umbro/Land Rover Furman Invitational.
