Wofford's McNair Named To AFCA Good Works Team

Wofford College fullback J.R. McNair is one of just five Division I-AA
student-athletes to be named to the 2002 American Football Coaches
Association Good Works Team.

The Good Works Team honors players for their dedication and commitment
to community service. From 1992-96, the Good Works Team was selected by
the College Football Association. When the CFA disbanded in 1997, the
AFCA began selecting the teams.

McNair is the second straight Wofford football player to be named to the
squad. Graduated halfback Ben Foster received the honor last year.

A Dean's List student, McNair ranks third on the Terriers in rushing
with 98 yards (4.9 per carry), including a touchdown, in the opening two
games. Last season, his 563 yards were second on the team while his
nine touchdowns placed among the SoCon leaders. He was selected to the
2001 Verizon Academic All-District Team.

Among his myriad of campus and community organizations, McNair is a
member of the Wofford Campus Union as an at-large delegate while also
serving as its chaplain. The junior from Jonesboro, Ga., takes
inner-city youth to lunch once a week. He created a web site for the
Girl Scouts/Piedmont Area and took part in the Feed the Children
project, in which 450 meals were provided. McNair also serves as
president of Wofford's Gospel Choir.
