Chattanooga Adds Mississippi State Transfer

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Former Dade County (Ga.) High School basketball
standout Lyndi Sippel, who played her first two collegiate seasons at
Mississippi State University, has enrolled at Chattanooga and will play her
final two years for the Lady Mocs.

The 6-foot-2 forward, who played in 29 games last season with five starts
for the Bulldogs, will sit out the 2002-03 season in accordance with the
NCAA transfer rule.

"We're very excited to have Lyndi join our program," Lady Mocs head coach
Wes Moore said. "She played high school ball so close to Chattanooga, I had
numerous opportunities to see her play. She was definitely at the top of
our list in that recruiting class. Having played for coach Gene Durden at
Dade County, she is very fundamentally strong and she knows how to win. Her
combination of height and ability will be a definite plus for us in the
years to come."

Sippel averaged 2.7 points per game and 1.3 rebounds per game while playing
10.5 minutes per outing in her sophomore season. She also went 10-for-28 on
3-pointers, blocked three shots and picked up five steals. Her five starts
last season came at Alabama, Vanderbilt and LSU, plus home games against
Tennessee and Morris Brown.

Sippel scored a career-high 15 points at Alabama, going 6-for-12 from the
floor with two 3-pointers. She logged a season-high 29 minutes against the
Lady Vols and played 27 minutes against Alabama. As a freshman, Sippel
played in 28 games, scoring a season-best five points with six rebounds vs.
Southern.

Sippel was honorable mention all-America her final two seasons at Dade
County, and she helped her squad to records of 28-4, 27-6, 20-9 and 29-3
during her four years. She was all-state her last three seasons and twice
earned all-North Georgia accolades. She scored a career-high 30 points vs.
Chattooga. Sippel shot 52 percent from the floor and averaged 13.6 ppg her
senior season.

The Lady Mocs are coming off their second consecutive SoCon Tournament
Championship and third straight league regular-season title. Chattanooga
opens the 2002-03 regular season Nov. 22 when Georgia visits McKenzie Arena.
