Wofford Signs Strong

LaToya Strong, a 5-foot-7 guard from Annapolis, Md. (Archbishop
Spalding), has signed with the Wofford College women's basketball team.

During her senior season, Strong was named Anne Arundel County
Player of the Year by both the Washington Post and the Baltimore Sun.
She was a first team All-Metro pick and was named to the Capital and
Capital Gazette's first team. Strong was also on the IAAM A Conference
All-Star Team and the Anne Arundel County Senior All Star Team. She
earned numerous Player of the Week distinctions throughout her career
and was also the C. Markland Kelly, Jr. Athletic Service Award winner.

Strong averaged 9.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and three
rebounds per game while at Archbishop Spalding.

"We are proud to have LaToya Strong as a part of the Wofford
Lady Terrier basketball family," said Head Coach Ed Wyant. "She brings
a great deal of athleticism, court savvy, and tenacious defense to our
ball club. We are looking for LaToya to compete for playing time at the
point guard position."

Strong is the fourth newcomer signed for next year's Lady
Terrier squad. She will join Irmo native Nakia Mister, Atlanta native
Becky Sasso, and Albuquerque, N.M., native Meredith Bonner as a part of
Wofford's freshman class.

Strong is the daughter of Bernadine and Ezra Strong. She has
five siblings: Colleen (22), Carlisa (20), Miguel (14), Eboni (7), and
Ezra (5).
