UNCG To Play in 2002 Preseason NIT

GREENSBORO, NC - The UNC Greensboro men's basketball team will host
Wagner on Tuesday, November 19 in first-round action of the 2002
Preseason National Invitational Tournament.

The winner of UNCG-Wagner will play the winner of Kansas-Holy Cross on
November 22 at 6 pm on espn2.

This will mark UNCG's first invitation to the Preseason NIT. The
Spartans also made their first ever appearance in the Postseason NIT in
2002. The Spartans lost, 82-62, to eventual champion Memphis in the
first round in Memphis, TN.

Other teams participating in the 2002 Preseason NIT in addition to UNCG
are Boise State, Boston University, Columbia, Eastern Illinois,
Florida, Holy Cross, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, North Carolina, Penn
State, Rutgers, Stanford, St. Peter's, Wagner and Xavier.

The Tournament takes place at regional sites throughout the country
beginning on November 18 and culminates in New York City's Madison
Square Garden for the semifinal and championship doubleheaders on
November 27 and 29. Nine games, including the Garden doubleheaders will
be broadcast nationally by ESPN.

First round pairings are as follows: NOVEMBER 18: Boston University at
Stanford; St. Peter's at Xavier; Eastern Illinois at Boise State; Penn
State at North Carolina; Columbia at Rutgers. NOVEMBER 19: Louisiana
Tech at Florida, Wagner at UNCG; Holy Cross at Kansas.
