Furman Doubles Tandem Falls In NCAA Tournament

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS-- The Furman All-American doubles tandem of James
Cameron and John Chesworth saw their run in the NCAA Doubles Championships
come to an end May 25 when Stanford's No. 2 seeded duo of Scott Lipsky and
David Martin earned a 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 victory in the two teams' quarterfinal
showdown at Texas A&M University.

Cameron and Chesworth started the match on a positive note when they broke
serve at 6-5 to take the opening set, but Lipsky and Martin would bounce
back by breaking serve once in the second set and twice in the third set to
secure the victory.

Cameron and Chesworth, who were ranked as high as 14th in the country this
year, are the third and fourth Furman NCAA All-Americans, respectively,
following Don Barton (1981) and Ned Caswell's (1986-87) singles selections.
They are, however, the first Furman doubles team to earn All-American
honors.
