Tennis Teams Sweep Jacksonville State

CHATTANOOGA, TN --The men's tennis teams posted a 6-1 victory over Jacksonville State Friday in UTC's home opener.

The UTC men's squad took five of six singles matches to knock off the Gamecocks. Rafeal Rodriguez notched JSU's only victory, edging James
Dickerson 7-5, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. The Mocs picked up singles wins from Thomas Knizat (No. 1), John Hangstefer (No. 2), Fabian Bechara (No. 4), Tim Kutschera (No. 5) and Alex Mabred (No. 6).

The Mocs swept all three doubles matches after the overall victory had been clinched.

UTC's No. 1 singles player, Jason Ontog, did not compete in the match. After a heavy fall schedule, he is limited to the number of spring matches in which he can compete.


Campbell Nips Men's Tennis, 4-3

STATESBORO, GA - The Georgia Southern men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to the Campbell Camels at the Hanner Courts On Friday.

The Eagles won the doubles point as Wojciech Nowak and Darren Clark won at No. 1 doubles and Rohan Williams and Uli Ebensperger won at No. 3 doubles.

However, Campbell won four of six singles matches to take the victory. Mark Finnegan won at No. 4 singles and Noah Tyler won at No. 5 singles to account for the Georgia Southern wins.

With the loss, Georgia Southern falls to 1-4 on the season. The Eagles will be back in action Sunday hosting Troy State in an 11:00 a.m. match at the Hanner Courts.
