Wofford's Nett Earns Academic All-District Honors

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA. -- Wofford's Jenny Nett has been selected to the 2001 Verizon Academic All-America District III Women's Basketball University Division First Team. This honor is voted on by members of CoSIDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America.

This marks the second consecutive Verizon Academic All-District honor for the senior guard from Louisville, Ky., who was named to the second team in 2000-01. Nett sports a 3.94 GPA in Business Economics and English, and is Wofford's leading scorer, averaging 21.2 points per game and 5.5 rebounds. She is also a member of the Phi Beta Kappa national honor fraternity and a recipient of Wofford's Richardson Scholarship, a full scholarship given to just one student in each academic class.

District III is made up of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Virginia. The First Team includes two Southern Conference athletes in Nett and Western Carolina's Laura Echols, as well as Kristine Austgulen of Virginia Commonwealth, Sarah Hicks of Virginia Tech, and Allyson Keener of James Madison.

The second team includes Western Carolina's Yoneko Allen and Georgia Southern's Danna Simpson, as well as Hampton's LaShondra Allen, Florida Atlantic's Kristy Halvorsen, and Georgia Tech's Regina Tate.
