UTC's Wilson Earns Academic All-District

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Lady Mocs forward Jennifer Wilson, one of the top
basketball players in the Southern Conference, was rewarded Wednesday for
her academic success by being named to the Verizon Academic All-District IV
Team.

Wilson, a 5-foot.11 junior from Oak Ridge, Tenn., boasts a cumulative 3.90
GPA in education while being the Lady Mocs' third-leading scorer at 9.4
points per game, and she is third in rebounding at 5.0 rebounds per game.
Wilson was one of 17 all-district honorees, which includes all the
universities from Tennessee, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan and Alabama, and she
earned a spot on the third team.

"Jennifer Wilson is a true student-athlete," said UTC coach Wes Moore. "She
has posted a 4.0 GPA on several occasions, which is truly extraordinary
considering the time she devotes to basketball. She has found the perfect
balance between academics and athletics."

Wilson has made UTC's Dean's List every semester and made a perfect 4.0 GPA
four out of five semesters.

Moore calls Wilson "the best 15-foot shooter I have ever seen," and she
ranks fifth in the Southern Conference in field goal accuracy at 51.0
percent. Her scoring average ranks No. 28 in the SoCon. She is also fourth
on the team in free-throw accuracy at 73.9 percent.

A 2001 First Team All-Southern Conference pick, Wilson is currently ranked
No. 3 on Chattanooga's career free throw percentage list and she is close
to moving into the top 10 career field goal percentage list.

To be nominated, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve,
and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
