Wrestling Squad Competes in Tri-Meet in the Steel City (Jan. 7)

PITTSBURGH, PA - For the second consecutive time, only four wrestlers competed for Davidson in dual meet action as the team grappled with Duquesne and Thiel in Pittsburgh.

Freshman Brandon Zeigler remained undefeated in dual meets at 197 pounds by picking up two 3-1 decisions on the day. Zeigler has now won his last four matches. However, he was the only 'Cat to notch a victory against the host Dukes.

Senior Jeff Bender (157 pounds) kicked off the start of competition with an 8-3 decision over Thiel's Jason Huff. Sophomore Mark O'Hair (165) followed triumphantly in Bender's footsteps, pinning Tim Holland at 4:23.

Junior Grant Doornbos (149) came up a bit short in his match versus Steven Dedrick of Thiel, dropping a 10-6 decision.

Davidson is back in action this Saturday, January 12, at Franklin & Marshall. The Wildcats take on the host Diplomats and Boston College in dual meet competition.
