Men's Tennis 1/31/2002 11:12:00 AM Southern Conference Davidson Falls in Season Opener to North Carolina (Jan. 31) CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Davidson men's tennis team opened the 2002 season Thursday at Chapel Hill, but fell to North Carolina, 7-0, at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.The Tar Heels, ranked 34th in the country, took all six singles matches in straight sets. Sophomore Jonathan Britt dropped a tight 7-6 (10-8), 6-4 contest to UNC's Andy Metzler at number four singles.In doubles, Davidson didn't have any better luck as North Carolina swept all three matches. Only one doubles team, senior Chad Winebarger and sophomore Rob Gould, played together last year.The Wildcats host Belmont Abbey and Queens College, Saturday, Feb. 2, in Knobloch Tennis Center. Davidson and Belmont Abbey square off at 9 a.m. while the second match starts at 1:30 p.m
