Lady Mocs Hammer Tennessee State, 98-62

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The Lady Mocs roared to another sizable advantage
early in the game and waltzed to their fourth consecutive win by blistering
Tennessee State 98-62 Thursday night at The McKenzie Arena.

Chattanooga matched its longest winning streak of the season and upped its
mark to 12-6 overall. The Lady Mocs ended their non-conference season with
a 6-3 mark, which matches last season's achievement.

UTC used a 25-2 run to turn a 4-2 deficit into a rout and put the game
away early. Damita Bullock had 10 of her game-high 16 points in the first
half when the Lady Mocs took a 51-22 cushion at intermission.

Every UTC player scored and five Lady Mocs hit double figures with three of
those off the bench. Miranda Warfield tallied 14 points, Katie Galloway 12,
Nneka Irons 12 and Tiffany Patton 11. Shamya Sermons pulled a career-best
10 boards as UTC won the board war 43-32. Jennifer Wilson grabbed six
caroms and Katie Galloway yanked a career-high six.

Irons had a terrific all-around game with a career-high five steals to go
with a career-high seven assists.

UTC dominated the interior with almost half its points coming in the paint,
and it caused 30 turnovers which resulted in 41 points. The Lady Mocs shot
55.7 percent from the floor, which was the second-best this season. They
held TSU to just 35.9 percent shooting.

TSU leading scorer LaRissa Thomas, who was ranked 27th nationally in
scoring at 19.7 ppg, was held to just five points on 1-for-9 shooting.
Clarissa Cross led TSU with 14 points and Zekeya Anderson scored 11.

Chattanooga continues its home stand on Saturday night when Southern
Conference foe Georgia Southern visits the Roundhouse for a 7 p.m. date.
The game is a rematch of the Dec. 18 contest when UTC took a 79-67 victory
in Statesboro, Ga.
