The History:
The Citadel won the 2001 Pepsi Southern Conference Championship with a
4-3 win over UNC Greensboro. It was the sixth conference tournament
title for the Bulldogs with their first coming in 1990. Appalachian State
won its only tournament title in 1984, capturing the first-ever tournament
crown. Western Carolina has the most titles with nine while Georgia Southern
has three. Furman won its only tournament in 1991.

The site for the 2002 tournament is Riley Park in Charleston, SC, hosted by
The Citadel. The tournament has been played in Charleston since 1990.
Previous tournament sites include: Asheville, NC (1987-89), Boone, NC (1985),
and Cullowhee, NC (1984, 1986).
