The Citadel's Johnnie Keen Inks Pro Soccer Contract with the A-League's Charleston Battery

CHARLESTON, SC - Johnnie Keen, a two time all-Southern Conference soccer selection from Chapin, has signed a professional contract and will continue his soccer career as a member of the A-League's Charleston Battery. Keen, who has started 74 of his 75 matches during his career at The Citadel, had two game-winning goals this past season against Army and UNC Asheville while leading the team in assists. The 5-6, 140-pound midfielder scored 16 goals, 23 assists and had 55 points during his four-year career. "We're very proud of Johnnie's accomplishments at The Citadel and are happy that he has the opportunity to continue playing the game he loves on the professional level," said Citadel coach Joel Christy. "We're even happier that he'll still be in the Charleston area." Keen, a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, is a business administration major and will graduate in May. Keen becomes the second Bulldog soccer player to play professionally as Stephen Winters was a member of the Charleston Battery when they captured its national championship. The Battery's season opens on April 28th against the Charlotte Eagles.
