Guard, Marietta, Ga.
A guard from Marietta, Ga., Charles led the Lady Paladins to two wins last week, including a conference overtime win over Western Carolina. She recorded double-digit points in all three games, including 23 in a 78-62 loss to Indiana, 19 points in the 79-72 victory over Western Carolina and scored a team-high 24 points en route to an 85-74 win over Belmont. Charles shot 67.7 (21-31) percent from the floor, 64.7 (11-17) from beyond the arch and 76.5 (13-17) from the free throw line. She leads the league with a 67.7 percent field goal percentage, 64.7 three-point field goal percentage and averaging 22 points per game. Charles made the decision over the summer to return for her fifth-year after redshirting in the 1997-98 season. She redshirted after playing 27 minutes of the season opener before ending her season with a knee injury.

Laura Echols, Western Carolina
Forward, Conyers, Ga.
A junior from Conyers, Ga., Echols led the Lady Catamounts to a 2-1 record last week. She recorded 10 points and nine rebounds in a 67-59 win over Tennessee State early in the week before WCU traveled to UNC Wilmington for the Beach Blast Tournament last weekend. Echols recorded two 20+ point games with 23 in an 81-73 win over West Virginia before scoring a team-high 27 points in a 75-68 loss to UNC Wilmington. Echols averaged 20 points and 8.3 rebounds per game while shooting .511 from the floor and .737 from the free throw line. She was named to the Beach Blast All-Tournament Team for her performance after recording her second double-double of the season. Echols leads the team with a .510 shooting percentage (52-102), averaging 19.3 points and 7.7 rebounds. Her .770 percentage (31-40) from the free throw line is second on the squad and she has recorded two double-doubles this season.

Chris Forman, East Tennessee State
Guard, Aurora, W.V.
A guard from Aurora, W.V., Forman led the Lady Bucs to an 80-69 win over SoCon rival Davidson, the squad's first win at Davidson since the 1994-95 season. Forman scored a career-high 32 points, shooting .571 (12-21) from the floor, including 8-12 (.667) from the three-point distance. Forman led the Lady Bucs at halftime with 10 points before opening up in the second half.
In her second half performance, Forman scored 22 points on 8-10 shooting (.800) and 6-7 (.857) from three-point range. Her only missed three was three seconds into the half and she did not miss a shot after the 13:42 mark. With Davidson creeping back into the game at 65-57 with 5:47 remaining in the game, Forman nailed two huge treys to widen the advantage to 71-57. She scored 14 straight Lady Buc points in a 3:23 span late in the second half, outscoring the Wildcats by eight in that span.
Forman holds the SoCon single-game high for points (32), three-point field goals made (8) and is tied for the top slot in three-point field goal percentage at .667 (8-12). She ranks second among conference leaders in three-point field goals made (2.17 per game), third in three-point field goal percentage (.433) and is among the scoring leaders with 12.7 points per game.

Nneka Irons, Chattanooga
Sophomore, Guard, Louisville, Ky.
Irons had two solid outings, including perhaps her best overall at UTC, as the Lady Mocs split a pair of games at Georgia State's Lady Panther Invitational. The sophomore guard from Louisville, Ky., totaled 31 points by hitting 11-of-16 field goals (.688), 3-of-7 trey's (.429) and 5-of-7 free throws (.714). She also pulled down four rebounds, dished out six assists and grabbed five steals. Against Southern University, Irons scored a season-high 16 points and was perfect from the field (6-for-6 overall and 1-for-1 on three's). She also had five assists and two steals vs. the Jaguars.
Jan. 2
Becky Wollenberg, Charleston
Guard, Annandale, Va.
A guard from Annandale, Va., Wollenberg led the Cougars to a 2-1 record last week, averaging 20.0 points per game and recording 12 steals. Wollenberg recorded 19 points and a SoCon season-high seven steals in a 71-58 win over Ohio on Dec. 20. She then tallied 18 points and four rebounds while leading CofC to a 64-63 win over Furman, their first win over the Lady Paladins since the 1989-90 season.Wollenberg finished the week with a career-high 23 points and added four steals against Jacksonville.
Wollenberg shot .477 from the floor (21-44), including 9-15 (.600) from the free throw line, and grabbed 11 rebounds and 12 assists. She holds the second spot in the league, averaging 2.20 treys per game and is seventh in scoring with 14.0 points per game. Her 19 steals and 33 assists this season ranks among the conference leaders as she is sixth with a 1.43 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Erin Thurman, ETSU
Guard, Hixson, Tenn.
The guard from Hixson, Tenn., led the Lady Bucs last week in three Southern Conference games. Thurman led the Lady Buc's rally against Chattanooga on Jan. 2, draining five treys in the final six minutes of play and outscoring the Lady Mocs 15-12 over the last 6:18 of the game before UTC took the 88-72 win. She finished the game with a season-high 17 points and recorded three steals. After scoring eight points, including two treys, against Georgia Southern, Thurman tallied her top performance of the week in a 101-78 win over Appalachian State. In 26 minutes of play, Thurman tallied a career-high 27 points, shooting 10-13 (.769) from the floor and 6-9 (.667) from beyond the arc. She was consistent against App State, hitting 5-7 (.714) field goals in the first half before shooting 5-6 (.833) in the second half, including 4-5 (.800) from the three-point line. The 10 field goals made and six treys were also a career-highs for Thurman.
Thurman finished the week with a .514 (19-37) field goal percentage, including 13-28 (.464) from beyond the arc. She tallied six rebounds and added eight assists and six steals with an assist/turnover ration of 1.6. Thurman leads the league in three-point field goals made with 37, averaging 2.64 per game, and is ninth among scoring leaders with 12.1 points per game.

Heather Dykes, Chattanooga
Forward, Crossville, Tenn.
A forward from Crossville, Tenn., Dykes led the Lady Mocs to a 79-63 win over UNC Greensboro and sole possession of first place in the conference standings with a 6-0 league record. Dykes recorded a season-high 22 points and seven rebounds in the win. She shot .667 (10-15) from the floor and 2-3 from the free throw line to lead the Lady Mocs to their sixth straight conference win. Her performance moved her to the top of Chattanooga's career field-goal percentage list at .537 percent. Dykes ranks second in the league in field goal percentage, shooting .581 (54-93) from the field, and is among the scoring leaders, averaging 8.9 points per game.
Jan. 23
Laura Echols, Western Carolina
Forward, Conyers, Ga.
The forward from Conyers, Ga. (Heritage HS), led the Lady Catamounts to a 1-1 record last week. Echols scored her 1,000th career point on a layup at the 10:36 mark of the second half in the 90-84 loss to East Tennessee State on Jan. 16. She led the team with 22 points and 10 rebounds, her fifth double-double of the year, and shot .600 (9-15) from the floor while going 4-4 from the free throw line. She then led the squad to a 75-65 win over College of Charleston on Jan. 20 with 25 points and nine rebounds while shooting .571 (8-14) from the floor and making nine of 12 free throws.
Echols finished the week averaging 23.5 points and 9.5 rebounds while shooting .586 (17-29) from the floor and .812 (13-16) from the free throw line. She also added three steals and three blocks to her record. Echols leads the league in scoring, averaging 18.0 points per game, is second with 54 offensive boards, and sixth with 6.9 rebounds per game. Her .529 (117-221) field goal percentage is good for seventh in the conference.

Alie Rousseau, Georgia Southern
Guard, Coral Spring, Fla.
A guard from Coral Spring, Fla., Rousseau led Georgia Southern to two conference wins last week, including an upset of undefeated Chattanooga. She began the week by connecting on four of eight field goals (.500), including three of six treys (.500) for 11 points in just 12 minutes of play in a 72-63 win over Wofford.
Even more impressive was her performance in leading Georgia Southern to a 79-72 win over Chattanooga, snapping the Lady Mocs' 13-game league winning streak and 10-game overall winning streak. After not playing in the first half, Rousseau entered the game with 12:32 remaining after Chattanooga had tied the game at 50. She connected on seven straight field goals, including five treys, scoring 19 straight points in 6:27 for the Lady Eagles. Rousseau was the only Georgia Southern player to score from the 11:39 mark to 5:12 left in the game. Her three-pointer with 7:10 remaining proved to be the winning basket as the Lady Eagles held on to take the win. She finished the game going 7-9 (.778) from the field and 5-7 (.714) from beyond the arc.
Rousseau shot .647 (11-17) from the floor and was 8-13 (.615) from the three-point line last week. She ranks ninth in the league in three-point field goals made and 10th in three point field goal percentage. On the season, Rousseau is averaging 7.3 points per game, fourth on the team, and has 13 steals to her credit.
Feb. 6
Brittney Scarberry, Charleston
Forward, LeSage, W.V.
A forward from LeSage, W.V., Scarberry led the Cougars to a 2-1 record for the week, including two overtime wins. She started the week with 13 points behind a .571 (4-7) shooting percentage in a 66-54 loss to Davidson on Jan. 30. Scarberry also was perfect from beyond the arc and shot .800 (4-5) from the free throw line against the Wildcats. Scarberry continued her solid week with a season-high 23 points en route to 76-66 win at Wofford on Feb. 3, including the game-tying jumper with five seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime. She pulled down a season-high seven rebounds and shot .692 (9-13) from the floor and added two steals to her credit.
Scarberry had an almost identical game on Feb. 5 when she led College of Charleston to an 87-86 overtime upset over Chattanooga, knocking the Lady Mocs out of a tie for first in the conference standings. Her 23 points and .692 (9-13) field goal percentage mirrored the performance against Wofford as she shot .833 (5-6) from the charity stripe.
On the week, Scarberry shot .667 (22-33) from the floor, .737 (14-19) from the free throw line and pulled down 12 boards while adding five steals and five assists. She averaged 19.7 points and four rebounds per game and was perfect from beyond the arc. Scarberry is averaging 10 points per game and shooting .508 (64-126) this season, good for 10th in the conference. Her 10.0 points per game is also among the scoring leaders and her .754 (49-65) free throw percentage ranks 10th.
Feb. 13
Damita Bullock, Chattanooga
Guard, Harrisburg, Pa.
A guard from Harrisburg, Pa., Bullock led the Lady Mocs to back-to-back wins last week, moving Chattanooga into a tie for first place in the conference standings. She shot .769 (10-13) from the floor and scored 20 points in an 83-61 win over Western Carolina on Feb. 10. Bullock came off the bench and hit her first 10 of 11 shot against the Catamounts. Bullock repeated the performance against UNC Greensboro, scoring 20 points and pulling down 12 rebounds en route to a 77-55 win over the Spartans. The win gives Chattanooga the season sweep over UNCG and the tie-breaker as the potential top seed in the tournament. Bullock shot .667 (8-12) from the floor and .750 (3-4) from the charity stripe against UNCG, adding three steals to her record. The double-double was her second of the season.
Bullock finished the week with a .720 (18-25) shooting percentage and averaging 20 points per game. She also added 15 rebounds, five steals and four assists to her record.
Bullock is averaging 14 points and 5.8 rebounds per game this season and is second in the league in free throw percentage, shooting .800 (52-65) from the line. She is fifth among the scoring leaders and 11th among the rebounding leaders.
Feb. 21
Tiffany Hamm, Western Carolina
Forward, Harlan, Ky.
A forward from Harlan, Ky., Hamm led the Lady Catamounts to two conference wins last week. She scored 24 points and pulled down seven rebounds in a 95-68 win over East Tennessee State on Feb. 17. Hamm also added six assists and two steals against the Lady Bucs. She then scored 18 points, added nine rebounds and had two blocks en route to WCU's 87-61 win over College of Charleston. She shot a team-high .636 (7-11) from the field and was perfect from the free throw line.
Hamm averaged 21 points and eight rebounds on the week while shooting .586 (17-29) from the floor. She also shot .800 (8-10) from the free throw line and had three steals. Her .781 (75-96) free throw percentage is third in the conference and her 12.3 points per game is eighth scoring. She also ranks among the leaders in blocked shots, field goal percentage, rebounding, and defensive rebounds.
Feb. 27
Miranda Warfield, Chattanooga
Freshman, Guard, White Bluff, Tenn.
A 5-9 freshman guard from White Bluff, Tenn., Warfield posted a team-high 30 points in Chattanooga's final game of the regular season. She shot .833 (10-12) from the floor and across the board, going 5-6 from the charity line and 5-6 from beyond the arc. Her .833 (5-6) three-point shooting percentage was a conference season high. Her 30 points is the second highest point total from any SoCon player and most from a Lady Moc this season.
Warfield ranks fifth in the conference in three-point field goal percentage, shooting .345 (29-84) this season. Her 29 treys is tied for 11th in the league and she is among the scoring leaders, averaging 9.7 points per game.
