#1 Chattanooga Edges #4 UNC Greensboro 2-0

CHATTANOOGA, TN -- Chattanooga's Leah Tucker drove in the winning run off a sacrifice fly to give UTC the 2-0 win over UNC Greensboro in game seven of the 2001 Sonic Southern Conference Softball Tournament at Jim Frost Stadium in Chattanooga, TN. Chattanooga improves to 46-16 as UNCG falls to 31-26.

UTC's Dana Reed hit a single to center field with two outs in the third inning followed by a single from Angela Brewer. Tucker then knocked a high fly to deep center field to sacrifice RBI Reed for the winning run. The Lady Mocs added a run in the top of the seventh inning. UNCG threatened in the bottom of the inning but Chattanooga held on for the win.

Beth Alexander (22-7) took the win, striking out six. Amber Watson (16-12) took the loss for the Spartans.

Chattanooga advances to face the winner of Furman/Georgia Southern on Saturday at 2:00pm while UNCG will face College of Charleston at 10:00am.1
