The College of Charleston Honored 2000-01 Men's Basketball Team at Annual Banquet

Charleston, S.C. -- The College of Charleston honored its 2000-01 men's basketball team at its annual banquet April 22 at the John Kresse Arena.

Senior Jody Lumpkin became just seventh men's basketball player in school history to have his number retired. A banner to be hung at Kresse Arena diplaying Lumpkin's number 33 was unveiled at the banquet, while the Columbia, S.C. native was presented with his framed jersey.

Lumpkin, who played one season at Rice, finished his three-year career ranking 10th on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,269 points.

He ranked fifth with 710 rebounds while posting school-records with 238 blocked shots (second in Southern Conference history) and 105 dunks. He's the only player in school history to reach triple figures in those four categories.

Jody Lumpkin - Southern Conference Player of the Year, CofC Co-Player of the Year, All-Southern Conference, Verizon Academic First Team All-American, All-District III.
Jeff Bolton - CofC Co-Player of the Year, All-Southern Conference.

The team was presented with its Southern Conference South Division Championship trophy marking the eighth consecutive season the Cougars have claimed a league title. A championship banner to be hung in the Kresse Arena was unveiled as well.
