The Citadel's Kris Kut Sets SoCon Javelin Record

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Apr. 13) -- Kris Kut established a new Southern Conference record in the javelin while Peaches Hudson, Eric McClary and Nick Trelawney each earned individual titles to highlight The Citadel's participation in the South Carolina State Championship Track & Field Meet in Columbia, SC.

Kut's throw of 204'10" bettered the previous league standard of 203'0". Kut has now broken his own school record in each of the past four meets.

Hudson picked up a first place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (15.97) while placing fourth in the 100-meter intermediate hurdles. McClary's leap of 7'0.25" was good enough to win the high jump competition while Trelawney claimed top honors in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:13.61.

Quentin Armstrong finished second in the shot put (49'5.5") while Corey Russell was third in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles (58.47). Robert Waddington added a third-place showing in the high jump (6'4.75") as Russ Touchberry carded three top-six finishes in the discus (5th - 139'3"), hammer throw (5th - 129'11") and shot put (6th - 43'10").

Sharon Hacker was fourth in the women's 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:57.05 while teammate Amanda Orson placed fifth at 12:30.00. Catrina Moore picked up a fifth place finish in the shot put (37'3") and Carol Hamlin was fifth in the javelin (100'11").
