Davidson Grapplers Fall to Campbell

BUIES CREEK, N.C. The Davidson wrestling team could only muster two individual victories in a 37-6 loss to Campbell in its final dual meet of the 2000-01 year on Feb. 20. The Wildcats finish the season with a 6-13 overall mark.

Campbell opened the match with two victories before junior Jeff Libersat (184 pounds) got Davidson on the board. Libersat picked up a 10-3 decision over Chris Pfeffer and improved his dual meet record to 16-3 for the season.

After Libersats triumph, Campbell responded with six straight wins to seal the contest. Junior Jeff Bender (157) ended the match in a positive note for the Cats as he pulled out a 4-3 decision over Mike Cox. With the victory, Bender finishes the year 9-8 in dual meets.

Davidson and Campbell will both be competing in the 2001 Mat Jam on March 3 in Chapel Hill, N.C. Mat Jam features the conference tournaments of the Southern Conference, ACC and CAA.
