Davidson's Norbet Earns NSCA Academic Honor

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Senior soccer player and biology major Chris Norbet
> was recently named to the 2001 NSCAA/adidas Men's Scholar All-America
> Team.

> A forward from Belleville, Ill., Norbet was only one of two Southern
> Conference players to be selected for the award. Both he and Furman
> goalie Scott Blount were named to the first team.

> Norbet led the Wildcats in both points and goals scored during the
> 2001 season. His 19 goals and 42 points were both the fourth highest
> totals in school history. He sits sixth among all NCAA Division I
> players in goals per game and seventh in points per game through
> December 9.

> Norbet's 99 career points are tied for second-most in school history
> with Robert Clarke (1993-96). His 41 goals are third best in the
> school annals while his 17 career assists are sixth best all-time.

> The athletes will be honored at the All-America Luncheon to be held at
> the Philadelphia Marriott Hotel on Jan. 19, 2002, as part of the 2002
> NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) Convention. The
> first team selections comprise the pool for the selection of the
> NSCAA/adidas Scholar Athlete of the Year, which will be announced next
> week.
