Chattanooga Wrestlers Post 25-12 Win Over Carson-Newman (Dec. 13)

CHATTANOOGA, TN -- UTC's Jared Sullivan scored his team-leading fourth pin of the season Thursday and led the Mocs to a 25-12 victory over Carson-Newman.

Sullivan, who improved his individual record to 10-4 on the year, pinned Shane Arnold 1:05 in the 141-pound match. His pin gave UTC (2-2) a 17-9 lead in the team scoring.

"This was a good way to go out before the holidays," UTC interim head coach Franky James said. "We did a good job of scoring in the third period tonight and handled ourselves well around the edge of the mat. We continue to prove that we are in good condition in every match."

The Mocs won five other matches in the contest, including three by major decision. Austin David gave UTC the lead for good with a 12-4 win over Scott Bailey at 197. Matt Pitts recorded a 15-3 technical fall over Antwan Allen at 125, Patrick Carr outpointed Mike Church 14-5 at 149 and Quentin Bell defeated Justin Denison 16-5 at 157.

The Eagles, 2-4, posted wins at 133 pounds, 165, 174 and heavyweight.

The Mocs will break for the Christmas holidays and return to action Jan. 5 at the Ohio State Duals in Columbus, Ohio.
