Women's Golf 11/7/2001 3:39:00 AM Southern Conference College of Charleston and UNC Greensboro in the 2001 Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate Bridwell's 69 Propels Cougars to 10th at Palmetto IntercollegiateKIAWAH ISLAND, SC -- The College of Charleston women's golf team shot a 299 the second round and a 316 the third to jump from 14th to 10th at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate held Nov. 5-6, at the Oak Point Golf Club. Louisville won the event by three strokes over Campbell.Louisville shot a 909 for first while Campbell had a 912 after three rounds. Tulane came in third with a 915, while Memphis totaled a 917 for fourth. Rounding out the top five was South Florida with its 924.Bridwell totaled a 226 on the day to finish tied at 6th, while Sapna Patel had a 238 to end her day tied for 40th. Lori Straub shot a 79 the last round to equal a 239 and finish tied for 43rd and Kelley Groff had a 241 to finish tied for 53rd. Jenny Heskett rounded out the Cougar effort with a 148 to come in 64th.The Cougars take the winter off before traveling to Pinehurst, NC to host the Edwin Watts/Carolinas Collegiate Classic Feb. 25-26.UNCG Women's Golf Finishes sixth at Palmetto IntercollegiateTwo Spartans finish in top-14KIAWAH ISLAND, SC -- Jenny Gleason (Jr./Clearwarter, FL) and Zuzana Kamasova (Sr./Bratislava, Slovakia) both finished in the top 14 to help UNC Greensboro to a sixth place team finish today at the 2001 Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate women's college golf tournament. The two-day, three-round tournament was hosted by the College of Charleston at the Kiawah Island Oak Point Golf Club in Kiawah Island, SC. Louisville claimed the team title with a 909 54-hole score. Three strokes back in second was Campbell (912). Tulane was third at 915, Memphis was fourth at 917, and South Florida placed fifth with a 924 final tally.Gleason finished in a tie for ninth at 227, while Kamasova's 230 total placed her 14th. Also for UNCG, Jessica Fought (Sr./New Stanton, PA) tied for 27th at 235, and Ashlee Dean (Fr./Hendersonville, NC) and Briana Vega (Boston, MA) both tied 62nd at 245.Carolin Landmann of Tulane and Cindy Pasechnik of Louisville both shared medalist honors at a four-over 220. Sharon Neill of Campbell was third at 221, Christine Boucher of Kansas State placed fourth at 223, and Memphis's Meaghan Francella took fifth at 225.
