Volleyball Wrap-up for October 24

Catamounts Defeat Davidson For Second Time in Four Days

DAVIDSON, NC - Western Carolina defeated Davidson 30-16, 30-25 and 30-21, Wednesday evening in volleyball from Belk Arena. The Catamounts (16-8, 11-3 SoCon) have won four consecutive matches while Davidson (10-12, 7-6) failed in its attempt to reach the .500 plateau.

Davidson jumped on top of Western Carolina early in game one, taking six of the first seven points. The Wildcats would maintain a five-point advantage until 12-7. A kill by WCU's Pamela Stein started a nine-point run for the Catamounts to take the lead, 16-12. Western Carolina's Shari Harder had four service aces during the stretch. Davidson would only win four more points in the opening game as the Catamounts prevailed, 30-16.

Western Carolina held the lead throughout the second game, but Davidson would stay within striking distance. Junior Roberta Quis' kill got the 'Cats within one point of the lead at 24-23, but the Catamounts took the next three points and hung on for a 30-25 win.

The Catamounts hit a match-high .298 in the game three triumph.

Western's Christy Attebery finished with 14 kills to lead all players.

Senior Jacqueline Ortega paced Davidson with 11 putaways. Quis tallied a double-double (10 kills,
12 digs) in defeat.

Western Carolina next hosts Georgia Southern on Oct. 26 at 7 pm.

Davidson is on the road this weekend. On Friday, Oct. 26, the Wildcats take on The Citadel at 7 pm Saturday, Oct. 27, Davidson tackles conference-leading College of Charleston at 2 pm.
