Liberty Shoots Down Lady Terriers, 1-0

SPARTANBURG, SC - Jenny Davis scored in the 70th minute Thursday night as the Lady Flames of Liberty defeated the Wofford women's soccer team, 1-0, in a match on Snyder Field.

The teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half, despite four shots by the Lady Flames' Nancy Davis. After the break, Liberty would get a good shot almost immediately as Kristy Webb bounced a shot off the underside of the crossbar. It would take until the 69:20 mark to break the scoreless tie, though. Katie Woodrow sent a corner kick into a crowd of players surrounding the Wofford goal, and Jenny Davis sent a header past Wofford keeper Katie Menegaz for the score.

Wofford had an extremely strong performance from Menegaz, who had eight saves in the loss. Overall, the Lady Flames outshot Wofford 24-4.

With the win, Liberty improves to 5-4-1 on the season while the Lady Terriers fall to 2-9-0.

Wofford will resume conference play on Sunday when the Lady Terriers travel to Appalachian State for a 3 p.m. match. Liberty travels to Birmingham-Southern for a 5 p.m. match on Saturday.
