Southern Conference Holds Basketball Tip-Off in North Charleston, NC

The Southern Conference men's and women's basketball coaches met with the media in North Charleston, SC for the annual Basketball Tip-Off October 7-8. The media conducted interviews in preparation for the 2001-02 basketball season.

Both coaches and media made their predictions for the upcoming year. The men's coaches selected UNC Greensboro to win the North Division and Georgia Southern to win the South Division. The women's coaches voted Chattanooga to win the regular season in 2001-02. On both occasions, the media concurred with the coaches.

Both sets of coaches also selected preseason all-league teams:
